Igor Ivanov was born in Veles, Republic of Macedonia. He started learning vertical flute, and at the age of 9 took up the instrument which will later mark his entire professional career – the clarinet. Ivanov graduated and mastered at the Universität für Musik und Darstelende Kunst Graz (class of Prof. Stefan Schilling). During the studies, he performed with Stravinsky Octec, (with whom he recorded a CD in 2005). Ivanov was part of Erasmus Student Programme and spent a semester at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Ivanov has taken parts in many orchestras, chamber projects, as well as master classes and seminars. He performed as par of Symphonisches Orchester der Kunst Universität Graz, Bläßerphilharmonie der stadt Graz, Europien Master Orchester Wien, Wiener Walzer Philharmonie, Wiener Klang Sinfonieta in Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, China, Croatia and other countries, as well as at several music festivals in Macedonia and abroad.

Apart from the standard, classic repertoire, Ivanov’s broader field of interest is contemporary music – he has been a regular member of the Chamber Ensemble for New Music Klang Forum Wien from Vienna.
