Katerina Bachevska is one of the most promising Macedonian flute players. Born in Ohrid, she completed her education at the Faculty of Music in Skopje (class of prof. Strasho Temkov), and in Milan, under Rafaelle Trevisini. Known for her musicality combined with impressive technique and strong musicianship, Bachevska has spread her music experiences across the world. She received the Golden Flute Award at Sir James Galway Flute Festival in 2012, and was awarded a solo recital in Switzerland in 2013. Bachevska has performed along renowned flutists Denis Buryakov, Trevor Wye, Samuel Cole, Nicola Mazzanti, Matthias Ziegler and others. As an inquisitive and ambitios flute player, Bachevska has taken part in numerous flute seminars. She was awarded Laureate at many international competitions: “Rising Star” in Switzerland (2012), Grand Prix at Ohrid Pearls Competition in Macedonia (2010), “Tahir Kulenovic” in Serbia (2005), Golden Medal at “Young Virtousos” in Bulgaria (2001), State Competition in Skopje, Macedonia (2000).
Bachevska held the position First Flute at the World Youth Symphony Orchestra (WYSO), under Jung-Ho Park at Interlochen Arts Center in USA in 2006, where she received “Most Talented Student” recognition.
In 2000-2001 Bachevska toured Slovenia and Italy with the European Youth Orchestra (YMISO), now CEI, under Igor Coretti. She was a temporary member of all active Macedonian orchestras. As a soloist Bachevska performed with the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, Jeunesses Musicales International and has given recitals in Macedonia, Italy, Switzerland, Bulgaria.
